In the depths where I lose myself, I think of you and wonder…
What did you see in me?
My heart reluctant,
Torn asunder
The world is much too bright to see;
All that I may fall under.
My soul aches for your caress,
Amid all of life’s strange bareness
But I often ask….what did you see in me?
My hands are cold,
Often dirty
And such loving cleanliness seems amiss;
For all these years of thirty.
Now, do I fall and lie in this dark embrace,
And risk I’ll disappear without a trace.
Well, I often ask it anyway…did you see me?
Oh, how I hungered for this love,
Lost repose,
Deeper than one could have imagined;
Yet I drown in your eyes’ many delicate woes.
Anguish … love me … leave me,
Tie me up and do not free me.
Alas, I would dare to ask before you go …
Oh … My Love, but can you see me?
