This moment … lost in time,
Falling forward,
With so much reason and too much rhyme.
And you were blinded; unable to see
Past the lightening of your faulty knee.
Smoke this cigarette, take a breath,
What are you thinking?
Pondering such a death.
This moment … can you feel it …
It’s in the air, colder where you sit.
Now … no time for rest,
Life so near…
There and always out of reach
Not a second worth of fear.
Cleanse yourself in this water;
Towel around your eyes …
Seeking life unknowing
Void of all your ties.
Just a moment;
Let the sound pull away,
Floating … drifting
Before the break of day.
Faces loved so dearly
Let them wrap around you;
Take you to the darkest place
As they slip from view.
And all that you are missing,
No more tears to be shed
For you are in this moment;
And this moment must be bled.
Written for my father who killed himself December 10, 2013.
